The Fisherman And His Wife
Is it better to have big dreams or to be happy with what you already have?
In the story The Fisherman and His Wife, the wife started by asking for small things, like a cottage instead of their pigsty. But after each wish was granted, she quickly wanted more – a castle, to be queen, and even to control the sun and moon. No matter how much she received, she wasn’t happy. Her constant desire for more eventually led to everything being taken away, and she and the fisherman ended up back in their pigsty.
This makes us wonder: should people have big dreams, or should they set boundaries for their dreams?
After watching this debate in the Video, do you think the fisherman’s wife should have stopped asking the fish for more? Why or why not?
